In 2011, when the blog www.hsslive.in was launched, it was meant to be a mere platform for interaction between higher secondary school teachers across the state.

Now, the blog is a big hit among both teachers and students and has attracted nearly 15 lakh visitors till date.

From important announcements to exam results, from free downloadable software to vital academic resources, the blog touches upon almost all major aspects of higher secondary education.

The brainchild of Tiju John, a Higher Secondary Teacher of Kadakkal CP Higher Secondary School in Kollam, the blog is now managed by a team of 15 teachers from across the state.

The highlight of the blog is an interactive platform where students and teachers can post their queries which will be answered by experts drawn from the respective fields.

“After getting feedback from many visitors, mostly students, we realised that the scope of the blog has to be widened to make it beneficial to a large number of people.

“Hence, we launched the interactive platform which became an instant hit,” Tiju said.

While students use the blog mainly to get their academics-related doubts clarified, teachers use it to discuss service rule-related issues, he said.

Another unique feature of the blog is the free SMS and e-mail alert facility by which students and teachers are provided timely reminders on exam schedules, the last dates for submitting applications and also results of important exams.

With students forming the core of the blog’s visitors, the teachers are now engaged in generating innovative academic resources.

The academic resources will be in the form of model question papers as well as content developed by teachers through their own research methodologies.

The blog also contains downloadable application forms, government orders and circulars in electronic format besides links to various sections of the General Education Department.
