In view of the financial crunch looming large over the state, the District Collectors were directed to pursue revenue recovery proceedings in full vigour, and even go in for arrests for it, if necessary.

A decision in this regard was taken at the annual conference of District Collectors and department heads, convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here on Tuesday.

Attaching immense significance to the drive as well as augmenting tax collection, each district will be brought under senior secretaries to monitor results on a time-bound scale, Chief Secretary E K Bharat Bhushan said.

“Cases entangled in court stays will be examined separately and steps will be taken to vacate those stays,” he said.

The annual conference convened by CM has set an ambitious target of offering 400 services under the Revenue Department online, with the help of the IT Department, at the earliest.
