Employees of the State Institute of Educational Technology (SIET) have not been paid their salaries for the past five months. The reason cited by the authorities for this is the delay in getting grant from the Central Government.

The Institute, which comes under the Department of General Education, gets an amount of `20 lakh from the State Government in addition to the grant from the Centre. This has also not yet been distributed. SIET is already reeling under debt from the conduct of five educational film festivals.

“The State Government has taken necessary measures and the staff will be given their pay within 10 days,” Babu Sebastian, director-in-charge of SIET, Kerala, said.
