Sudheeran Supports Chennithala

KOTTAYAM: A day after the Vigilance Court ordered inquiry against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala in Titanium corruption case, KPCC president V M Sudheeran came in support of Ramesh Chennithala, pointing out that the latter had not assumed charge as PCC president during the decision (on the setting up of an effluent treatment plant at the State-owned Travancore Titanium Products) was taken.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Sudheeran said that since Ramesh assumed charge almost 43 days after the decision was taken, no one could make any allegation that he misused his position in the incident.

Sudheeran added that the party would take a decision only after consulting the details of the judgment with legal experts and senior party leaders. “I can’t understand, why he (Ramesh) has been brought into the issue as a party in the case. I think somebody has made a mistake somewhere,” Sudheeran said. It is in such a situation that the facts have to be thoroughly examined, he said.

Sudheeran, who was cautious in his words on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, said that CM has already made his stance clear on the Opposition’s demand for his resignation.

“It is too early to come to a conclusion.  No one will hamper the inquiry and the  CM has already welcomed the investigation,” he said.  When asked about the moral commitment for resignation, Sudheeran said none of the allegations had been proved in any of the courts.
