District Collector M G Rajamanickam released a souvenir on Mata Amritanandamayi, titled ‘Amritavarshini 2014’ by handing over the first copy to BSNL principal chief general manager G Muraleedharan here on Sunday. The event was held as part of the two-day annual ‘Brahmasthanam’ festival at Edappally.
Speaking on the occassion, Amritanandamayi said that selfless service is the way to God. “The idea of selflessness makes our acts perfect. Mankind will have greater solidarity if we agree to live according to the principles of sharing and caring,” she said. Apart from the District Collector, prominent personalities from all walks of life also came to attend the festival on Sunday. Income Tax Principal B N Das Sharma, Chief Commissioner of Customs Central Excise Service Tax Subramaniyam, Deputy Collector Suhas, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nishanthini R, former Ernakulam Collector Vishwambaran were among present.
Members of 50 families were added to the free medical clinic constituted by the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. The clinic offers free medical aid to 500 families.
