Transfer Row: Former Principal Alleges Smear Campaign

KOCHI: Responding to the statements made by Latha, principal of the Edappally Higher Secondary School, former principal Shakunthala has said that there was not any judgement by the Administrative Tribunal in favour of the former.

Shakunthala said that she was not served with any notice about the transfer order even though she was the third respondent in Latha’s original application. “I filed a review application in the Tribunal, and the order states that there has not been any directive in favour of the applicant, but only noticed the submission made on behalf of the second respondent,” said Shakunthala.

She further stated that Latha was only indulging in a smear campaign against her, instead of appealing before the High Court.

“Elamakkara GHSS is nearer to her flat. Since the principals of higher secondary schools are engaged in teaching also, they could be posted only in schools where their respective subject is offered as course of study. By requesting this transfer, she was trying to conveniently dislodge me from Edappally” she said.

In July, ‘Express’ had published a report on the sudden transfer of HSS principals. There were allegations that school principals were being transferred in the State due to the political influence of persons with vested interests.
