Ailing Child to Get Relief

KAKKANAD: The district administration has taken steps to extend a helping hand to Sneha who has been struggling with heart and lung disorders for the last eight years.

Sneha, who is studying in the sixth standard of St Peters at Kumbalangi, is undergoing dialysis at the Lourdes Hospital. “We will arrange funds for her treatment from the Chief Minister’s Redressal Fund. An urgent report in this regard has been asked from the Kochi Tahsildar office,” said District Collector MG Rajamanickam in a press release.

The Collector had visited her at the Lourdes Hospital a few days ago to evaluate her condition. “We will also arrange some funds for her from Bhoomigeetham, a programme to be conducted in association with the ‘Zero Landless Project’. The funds will be raised from various sources,” the Collector said.

The expenses of replanting her kidney and liver will go up to `50 lakh and may go further up with the post-transplantation surgery. “We are planning a long-term project to find necessary funds for her treatment,” said Rajamanickam.
