Third Hindu Meet to Start on Aug 22

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The third Hindu Maha Sammelanam being organised by Ananthapuri Hindudharma Parishad will be held from August 22 to 31 at Swami Sathyananda Saraswathi Nagar (Putharikandam Maidan) here.

Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram director P  Parameswaran will inaugurate the sammelanam on August 23.

Head of Sreeramadasasramam Swami Padananda Saraswathi will address the gathering and senior BJP leader O Rajagopal will deliver the keynote address. In the eight-day long festival, socio-cultural leaders would participate.

‘Ganesholsavam’, that will go side by side, would commence at E K Nayanar Park on August 22 at 11 am under the guidance of Goshala Vasudevan Namboodiri. The nine-day long pooja will be performed in 121 specially marked centres.

Arrangements have been made to offer pooja on 18,000 idols made of clay. On August 31, the idols will be immersed in sea, which will be accompanied by a ‘shobhayatra’ with the participation of one lakh devotees.

A cultural programme is planned at Shanghumugham after immersing the idols. Ganesha idols will be available from the office of Hindu Mahasammelanam at Fort.
