IDUKKI: One person drowned while another was washed away at Kallar River at Mangulam near Munnar in Devikulam on Tuesday, Fire and Rescue Services sources said.

The body of Rahul Mohanan, 25, son of Mohanan, of Nigarthil house in Vattayar, was recovered by the Fire and Rescue Services team and the locals, the sources said.

Narayanan, 48, son of Kuttan, Pattarumadathil house in Vattayar in Devikulam, is still missing. The search for him was called off due to inclement weather.

The incident occurred when the two were engaged in connecting a hose to a water driven power unit. The two were perched on the edge  of a water fall by holding to a rope to secure their grip. They lost hold of the rope and got washed out in the water due to strong water current, the sources said.
