5 from State Listed

KOCHI: Diju, a half of India’s most successful mixed doubles pair in combination with Jwala Gutta, was part of the team that won a CWG silver(2010) and bronze(2006) each in the mixed team event.  While these four are set to be honoured for their stellar contribution to Indian sport, P T Usha protege Tintu was named for her bronze-winning effort in the 2010 Asian Games and the Asian Championship gold (4x400m relay) last year.

A total of 15 sportspersons stand to win the Arjuna this year should the Sports Ministry ratify the selection panel’s recommendations. The norm is to go by the panel’s word, though triple jumper Renjith Maheswary was taken off the final list.
