‘Domestic Tourist Flow to be Hit’

KOCHI: Manoj Michael, secretary, Kerala Travel Operators Association said that the domestic tourist flow will definitely come down if liquor is served only in five star hotels. The majority of the domestic tourists are using the two and three star facilities here and their flow will come to an end.

“Now there are stiff competition from neighbouring states and countries to attract tourists. When a five day package to Sri Lanka can be given at `50,000 with all the facilities for a tourist, people would opt for it,” he said. Jose Dominic was of the view that the decision will only help the bootleggers to make money through illegal sale. Now the government had gone for political appeasement to help a minor section of the society, which will have serious economic impact, he added.
