IDUKKI:  Joice George MP on Wednesday praised the BJP Government for trashing the Gadgil report while the former MP P T Thomas slammed the Central Government  for the decision.  Joice George, who rose to prominence from a low profile leadership and managed to grab the support of the LDF and the Catholic Church in the polls by whipping up people’s sentiments, said that Union Minister Prakash Javadekar had made it amply clear that the government was in no mood to implement both the reports without taking people into confidence. “ The reports needed to be studied afresh. The people from grassroots level and leaders of the panchayat in the areas concerned would be convinced before implementing the report,” Joice said quoting the minister.

Meanwhile, P T Thomas, who had drawn the flak of the Church and the Congress by openly supporting the Gadgil committee report, said that the stand taken by the government is demoralising. The BJP should clarify why it changed its stance to implement Gadgil committee report, he said.
