PATHANAMTHITTA: Cultural Affairs Minister K C Joseph has said that journalist and social activist B R P Bhaskar was selected for the state government’s annual Swadeshabhimani Kesari Award.
Addressing a Meet-the-Press programme, organised by the Press Club here on Thursday, K C Joseph said that the award, which carries a cash prize of `1 lakh and a citation, would be presented by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in Thiruvananthapuram next month.
B R P Bhaskar was selected by a three-member jury consisting of K L Mohanavarma, N R S Babu and K A Muralidharan, the Minister said. On the Centre’s move on winding up the Planning Commission, Joseph said that the state government conveyed its opposition to the Centre through the Chief Minister. He said that the state government would go ahead with the State Planning Board.
