KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Thursday held that the state government should install CCTV cameras in all the jails in the state.

Justice A Hariprasad issued the directive when a suo motu proceeding, by the Kerala High Court on the special privileges that the ‘VIPs’ convicts enjoy in prisons, came up for hearing.   The court asked the state to install CCTVs in the three central jails and in all the district jails and submit a progress report in three months.

The state submitted that it would establish cameras in all the prisons.
