Alappuzha 'Chirappu' Fest to Begin Today

ALAPPUZHA: With ‘chirappu’ festival at Raja Rajeswari temple at Mullackal set to begin on Tuesday, Alappuzha town has worn a festive mood, according to reports.

Devotees have started crowding streets and shops decorated with illuminations for shopping in preparation for the next 11 days featured with various cultural programmes and processions.

While Mullackal chirapu has been set to begin on Tuesday, it will begin at Bhuvaneswari temple, Kidangamparambu, on December 20.The rituals start with kasha sreebali at 9 am followed by ethirelpu and kalabahbhishekam at 10.30 am. Kalababhishekam will be held every day at 10.30 am and kasha sreebali at 5 pm. A bhakthi ganasudha is to be held on December 16 and sangeeth amrutham at 7.30 pm on 17th. A sangeetha aradhana of students from SDV School will be held at 2 pm on 18 and thalapoli at 6.30 pm. A pancha retna keerthanalapanam to be followed at 7.30 pm and a dance programme thereafter at 9pm.A bhakthi ganamela will be held at 8.30 pm and 7.30 pm respectively on both 19 and 20 December, and sangeetha kacheris will be held on 21 and 22 at 7.30pm.  A mass meal has been arranged on 23rd at noon with a bhakthi ganamalika and dance programme to follow in the evening.

Dance and ganamela will be on 24th while dance, violin kacheri and satsangh will be held on 25th. Events, including ganamelamimicry bhakthiganasudha, dance, sangeetha sadass and ashtapadhi kacheri  will be held on 26th and  on the final day on  27th.
