Campaign to Enter High-voltage Phase

The campaigning for Lok Sabha polls in the state will enter a high-voltage phase when national leaders of political parties start making a beeline from next week.

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, in his second visit in the state within two months, will be campaigning in Kasargod on April 4.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will also touch base in the state, to lift the spirit of the UDF campaign, on the same day.

CPM general secretary Prakash Karat will be in the state for three days, from April 5 to 7.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi will be the star campaigner for the UDF on April 7.

“Narendra Modi will address a public rally at Kasargod Municipal Stadium on April 4. Venkaiah Naidu will reach Kochi on March 29 and head to Karunagapally. He will also attend public rallies in Attingal and Thiruvananthapuram,” said V Muraleedharan, BJP state president.

However, the national leadership of the party is yet to confirm the presence of L K Advani, a former star campaigner. The constituencies in which Sonia would be campaigning are yet to be finalised, said C V Padmarajan, chairman, Congress Election Campaign Committee.
