Pampakuda panchayat near Muvattupuzha will soon be declared as the first digitised local body in the country with all details of those residing in the area made available at the click of a button.

The project was conceived by its president Eby N Elias who has entrusted an IT company, Nextuz, to come out with a software for the purpose. Now the project has been completed and is ready for launch. Eby said that all  details of each individual including their profession, blood group, education and bank account were collected. The data collection was made through the Asha workers who distributed a questionnaire prepared by the panchayat. ‘’It had 30 questions with several sub-sections. After collecting the data it was uploaded to the computer with the support of NSS volunteers from Holy Kings Engineering College’’, he said.

It will be an easy task for the panchayat to prepare the yearly plan with the data. There are around 150 sections in the plan and with the present data the projects needed for the people could be easily identified, he said. ‘’Now the facility to get the data is limited to the panchayat. There are plans to upload the facility through the Internet so that any person around the globe can identify people and get any details of the panchayat’’, said Eby.  Nextuz CEO Alok Babu said e-gram is a cloud-based forum built for grama panchayats in the state.
