Outpost to Curb Deep-rooted Crimes

THRISSUR:With one out of the two police outposts in the state allowed for Kodungalloor in Thrissur district, the spotlight once again falls on the coastal areas of the district, a melting pot for communal and extremist elements.

According to Thrissur Rural SP N Vijayakumar IPS, the rate of crimes in the coastal areas of the district has displayed an upward trend. “We have also understood that there have been several instances where narcotic items were smuggled in through the coastline,” he said. A look at some cases in the last two months reinforces the statement. Almost four days ago, league activists barged into the homes of

Gafar and Vijish at Chavakkad, attacking them with deadly weapons and injuring them gravely during the process. However, rural police chief said that it was not a regular political spat, since the League activists had joined up with SDPI in the assault.
