ACDF to Field Candidate: George

KOLLAM:  Former Chief Whip and Kerala Congress renegade P C George said Anti-Corruption Democratic Front (ACDF) will  field a candidate in the coming Aruvikkara Assembly by-election and pose a challenge to the UDF.

He was speaking at a debate series on  ‘Road ahead for Kerala politics’ organised by KUWJ district unit here on Thursday.

The new Front is an umbrella alliance of 91 new parties and organisations such as PDP, SDPI, DHRM, Vishwa Karma Sabha etc. George claimed that the new alliance has the blessings of religious and caste organisations such as the Orthodox church, SNDP etc. It will conduct a jeep rally from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram to highlight the UDF Government’s “corruption”.

According to P C George, a clearer picture of the political situation in the state will emerge in the state after the Aruvikkara byelection and there will surely be an anti-government mandate. He said that it was unprecedented in the history of Kerala that more than half of the ministers in a government were facing corruption allegations. He also alleged that it is possible for the Chief Minister to be part of the corruption.

“But Oommen Chandy had gone ahead and led the group. It is also a first that a chief minister’s office is linked to a controversial woman,’’ said George.
