TBI Offers Affordable Work Space for Entrepreneurs

KOCHI: The Technology Business Incubator offers work space with essential facilities at an affordable cost to the fresh entrepreneurs. This could be a boon for entrepreneurs from the rural areas, and women entrepreneurs. The TEDP in Food Processing could be highly beneficial for women.

“The main feature of this programme is its affordability and 42 start-up units so far has got benefits of this programme,” Vijith Kumar said.

“Sometimes the aspiring entrepreneurs from rural areas may not be aware of government’s financial schemes. Here, we offer them assistance to get familiar with such government schemes for entrepreneurs, besides making them aware of the right manner of product development and marketing. Hence, this is a learning and money-spinning programme rolled into one,” says Vijith. Premchand echoed similar sentiments.

“The programme helped us start a firm with affordable investment. If you start a firm independently then you need to pay room rent and refurbishing charges, which are quite high these days. Here at the NIT, we got a plug-and-play place without any real charges. Also, the mentoring at the NIT was excellent because of the top grade faculty.

There we also got exposed to various government schemes that would benefit start-up entrepreneurs like us. Our firm, the Global Innovative Technologies (P) Ltd, has been funded by the Department of Science and Technology and Kerala Financial Corporation, and the TBI opened the doors for us to it.”

Premchand and his aides are now busy working on their latest assignment, Compassionate Kozhikode, a programme conceptualized by District Collector N Prashanth.

We may soon see more young entrepreneurs giving life to some prestigious projects, courtesy TBI.
