Miraculous Escape for Kerala Fishermen at Mid-sea After Being Hit by Oil Tanker

Eight fishermen miraculously escaped after a speeding oil tanker ship hit the boat on which they ventured into the sea.

KANNUR: Eight fishermen miraculously escaped after a speeding oil tanker ship hit the boat on which they ventured into the sea, on Saturday. In the impact of the accident occurred around 21 nautical miles away from Kozhikode, the fishing boat was torn into pieces throwing all on board into the water.  

By the time the fishermen hung on to the buoyant pieces of the boat, the  oil tanker ship drove away without rescuing them. Stranded in the mid sea without any help, the fishermen struggled to keep themselves alive by hanging on to the pieces for about six hours.  Later, the crew of another ship which passed through the place spotted them and rescued.

The rescued fishermen Kanyakumari Santhosh(who owned the boat), 48,  Wilson, 42, Surendran, 35, Anil, 28, Pradeep, 36, Verghese, 41, Jerald, 54, and Salvyi, 41, have been admitted to Kannur District Hospital.
