THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has decided to issue photo identity cards to registered sales tax practitioners in the state and implement the renewal of annual licence. The All-Kerala Income Tax and Sales Tax Practitioners Association has welcomed the government decision.
Mahesh Tayyoor, general secretary of the association, said the issuance of photo identity cards was their long-standing demand.
“We welcome the government decision. However, it should entrust the power of auditing only to sales tax practitioners. Sales tax practitioners are only allowed to check the auditing process as per the rules of commercial taxes. Hence the government should take the decision at the earliest”, he said.
