TN Floods Left a Rs 15-crore Dent in Sabarimala Revenue, Says TDB Prez

KOLLAM: Tamil Nadu floods have made a serious dent in the revenue earned by the hill shrine of Sabarimala this year, Travancore Dewaswom Board (TDB) president Prayar Gopalakrishnan said here on Sunday.The temple revenue is less by Rs 15 crore compared to previous year, he told reporters at the Press Club here.The total income received until Saturday is Rs 103 crore. The temple should have received a total of Rs 118 crore by this time.With regard to criticism coming from various quarters about unchecked commercialisation of the hill shrine that had shrunk the forest, he said that TDB could not help it as it was the duty of the TDB to provide facilities to the pilgrims visiting the temple. He said that pilgrims from over 30 countries  visited the hill shrine in the last one day.
