THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The state government is working towards formulating an ‘IT procurement policy’ for the state, Information Technology Secretary P H Kurian has said. Kurian was delivering the keynote address at the sensitisation workshop on ‘Good Procurement Practices for Information Technology’ here on Wednesday.

The workshop was organised by Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology (MAIT), the apex body representing IT manufacturers. “The new IT procurement policy aims to bring in greater transparency and much higher participation,” he said while stressing on the need to evolve vendor neutral specifications so that tenders are not biased towards any particular manufacturer.
