KOZHIKODE: Swami Saswathikananda was murdered, said Head of Sivagiri Mutt Swami Prakashananda. He was speaking to media persons here on Saturday.
“When I saw the dead body, I came to know that it was not a natural death. There was a deep wound on his forehead. It was said that the injury happened amid the rescue operation.
But I am sure the injury on his forehead was not caused during the rescue operation. I suspect some one had hit him on his head using some hard material before pushing him into the river,” Prakashananda alleged. He also asked how Saswathikananda, who knows swimming, would drown in the water.
“The body was found placed among the rock in the river. This is suspicious. Locals had also seen a person swimming to the opposite side of the river,” Prakashananda said, adding that he is ready to repeat the claims before the investigators if asked.
