THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The latest Assembly poll results in the country indicate that the Congress is set for a huge comeback, KPCC president V M Sudheeran has said.

“The people are even denied the right to live under the present Union Government. The people have now realised that Congress is the only national movement that can combat communal and fascist forces,” he said after inaugurating the 130th foundation day celebrations of the party at Indira Bhavan here on Monday.

Sudheeran said that a secular front was not possible in the country without the Congress. “Only the Congress can fight the BJP and the Modi Government. The performance of the Congress in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh polls shows that the party has regained the trust of people,” he said.

Sudheeran said that the ongoing CPM plenum reveals that the party is not ready to change its anti-Congress stand. “The blind anti-Congress stand of the Communist parties helped the communal forces gain popularity in the country. Their anti-Congress stand in Bihar polls helped the Congress bag at least 10 seats,” he said.

Sudheeran said the Congress government in the state will have continuity in power. Ministers K C Joseph, V S Sivakumar, KPCC vice-president N Peethambara Kurup and leaders Thampanoor Ravi and Sooranad Rajasekharan spoke. Earlier, the KPCC president hoisted the party flag in front of the office.
