THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The City Police Commissioner on Tuesday gave a deadline of three days to the police for arresting Nikhil Balachandran, son of retired SP K B Balachandran, who had gone absconding after the police chased him down at his residence at Kurvanakonam after he created dramatic scenes in the city on Sunday.    Nikhil is an accused in four non-bailable offence cases, including outraging the modesty of women.      According to Commissioner H Venkatesh, Nikhil would land in police net within three days.

“I have given enough directives to the police team who are searching for the culprit. A special squad led by control room AC Pramod Kumar has been formed.

I have also given orders on initiating KAAPA against him at the time of arrest,” he said.

He also denied rumours that the accused was being harboured by a group of police officers.

Meanwhile, the city police have changed the previous police team.    The police spotted the youth who was driving an SUV on the Plamoodu-Pattom stretch on Sunday. When they intercepted him at Plammoodu, he drove the SUV in reverse gear, hitting several vehicles on the way.
