Mohanlal Sends Back 'Lalisom' Amount; Government Not to Accept

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala cabinet on Wednesday decided not to take back the money offered by actor Mohanlal after his musical programme 'Lalisom' during the inauguration of the 35th National Games turned out to be a flop inviting immense criticism across social media.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said Mohanlal had said at the time of signing the contract itself that he had no time to take rehersals. However he agreed to conduct the programme and it was sad that he had to face so many criticism, said Chandy.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal sent back a cheque of Rs 1.63 crore that he received for the programme to the government through speed post.

Sources said Lal decided to give back the money after the state sports minister made a remark against him saying 'Lalisom' was the only failure during the inauguration function.
