Drug Haul: Cops to Probe Nisham's Role

KOCHI: Mohammed Nisham, the businessman who is under judicial custody in Thrissur, will be questioned about his possible links with the cocaine source only after interrogating the five accused persons after getting them in police custody, according to the special investigation team.

“We don’t find any direct involvement of Nisham in the cocaine seizure case as he was jailed in Thrissur on the day of the raid at his flat. So we have decided to interrogate him only after questioning the five persons who have direct involvement in the case”, said Francis Shelby, the investigating officer on Wednesday.

He also said that the investigation was going on at a fast pace. “We are checking the call details of the accused persons and a clear picture will come out very soon. Besides, we are also interrogating the people who are connected to the case. As far as the CCTV visuals are concerned, we need to check the camera installed in the lifts so that the visitors to the flat days ago can be identified clearly,” Shelby said.

Most probably we will be able to achieve a breakthrough in the case in a couple of days after further interrogation. We are also planning to go to Goa for unearthing the source of cocaine in the coming days, Shelby added.

Meanwhile, the principal session court posted the police petition for taking the accused persons into their custody to Thursday. The court deferred the proceedings to next day because the police didn’t mention a point that the accused were not harassed physically or mentally under the police custody. In the meantime the bail application submitted by the counsel of actor Shine Tom Chacko has been dismissed.

“We will investigate the statements made by the main accused Reshma Rangaswamy. She had visited Goa and we suspect that she had collected the cocaine from Franco, a Goan Native, along with Blessy Silvester,” he added.

“Meanwhile, it is also learnt that the police are thinking of quizzing another young actor and a couple from the film field who used to attend some parties recently held in Kochi,” Shelby added. The police filed the ‘complete’ petition including the point before the sessions court in the evening.
