Man Arrested for Robbing Temples

THRISSUR:A shadow police team here on Thursday has arrested a 55-year-old man and his 15-year-old accomplice on charges of committing more than 30 temple thefts in various parts of the state.

The police have also retrieved sacred ornaments of a deity, 340 gm of gold ornaments and two leopard claws, stolen from a temple in Palakkad. The arrested Jayaranjan, of Varkkala, is well-versed in astrology and panchangam. He used to commit theft  after holding detailed study of a temple. He has robbed 31 temples in Thrissur, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur.
