KIMS Heartcare Centre Opened

KOCHI: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala inaugurated the KIMS Heartcare Centre here on Saturday, a joint venture by the KIMS Healthcare Group and Kochi-based Heartcare Associates Pvt Ltd.

The 24X7 acute cardiac centre allows quick access for vehicles during emergency situations as it is strategically situated near the NH47 at Edappally. PWD Minister V K Ebrahimkunju and FACT CMD Jaiveer Srivastava also attended the  function.

The KIMS Heartcare Centre, which is equipped to perform complex heart surgeries, will have a state-of-the-art cardiovascular suite featuring a cardiac catheterisation lab (GE IGS 320 with Stentviz), where highly skilled and experienced cardiologists will be available round-the-clock to provide advanced and integrated cardiac treatment.

An eight-bed fully equipped coronary unit for patients recovering from heart attacks and interventional cardiology procedures is part of the patient-care facilities at the centre. A chest pain clinic and a cardiac surgery division to cater to the needs of adult patients who need open-heart procedures are the other highlights.  At the centre, emergency angiogram and intervention can be made available to heart patients within 15 minutes of their arrival.

Affiliated services like 24X7 dialysis units, 1:1 nurse-patient ratio and ICU with the latest internet-based patient monitoring technology help doctors closely monitor the patients and perform the procedures remotely.  In addition, a free high-tech 24-hour emergency cardiac care ambulance service, with ventilators, has been made available for emergency cardiac cases.  KIMS Heartcare is headed by cardiac surgeon Dr Praveen Menon.
