KOZHIKODE: Taking the protest to a different level, the DYFI activists lighted traditional lamps (Nilavilakku) in front of the venue of a programme attended by Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb in the city, against his reluctance to light the lamp during public functions, on Sunday.

The DYFI activists lighted the ceremonial lamps in front of K P Kesava Menon Hall by 11.30 am when the police officials blocked them from entering the hall.

In addition to this, when the minister was leaving the hall after the programme, a group of SFI activists reached the spot and waved black flags at him in protest against delay in school textbooks distribution.

As many as thirteen DYFI activists and four SFI activists were held in connection protest. They were released after registering their arrest.

KSU Calls off Bandh
