Bar Scam: LDF to Seek Reprobe

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The LDF will  move the court seeking an order to initiate  reprobe  into the bar bribery case involving Finance Minister K M Mani, LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan  said on Thursday. Briefing the decisions of the LDF meet, he said  the LDF has not ended the stir against Mani.

He alleged that the government was trying  to sabotage the case. He said that LDF was demanding a reprobe  under the supervision of the government. In this regard, legal experts will be consulted before moving the court. He clarified that Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan had already moved the court in  connection with the bar bribery case. LDF will be taking separate initiatives.

He alleged that the UDF government was trying to suppress the SFI-led stir against the delay in distribution of textbooks.  protesting against this, the LDF workers would organise a torchlight procession at the local-level across the state on July 11.As part of the agitations against corruption at the national-level, LDF workers will organise a dharna on July 20 at all Assembly constituencies from 5 pm to 7 pm.

Vaikom Viswan said the government’s move to delimit the panchayat wards on political basis ahead of the upcoming local body elections  should be condemned.The last date for  enrolling names in the voters list ahead of the local body elections is July 15.

LDF has asked the government to extend the date to facilitate more voters to enroll their names.
