Falling Off a Train Two Girls Die, One Injured Near Mankara

Two girls died and one seriously injured when they fell of the train at Pookottukunnu near Mankara on the Ottappalam—Palakkad railway sector.

PALAKKAD: Two girls died and one seriously injured when they fell of the train at Pookottukunnu near Mankara on the Ottappalam—Palakkad railway sector here today.

The seriously injured has been admitted to the Thrissur medical college hospital.

It is believed that it was the girls from Konni in Pathnamthitta who went missing who were involved in the accident.

Three students of the Government higher secondary school in Konni were missing since July 11.

The parents of the girls had lodged a complaint at the Konni police station.

The Ottappalam police who said that they were still investigating the crime however added that it is believed that the deceased girls could be Athira, a native of Iravan near Konni and Raje, a native of Thengamkaavu.

The seriously injured third girl, Arya K. Suresh has been admitted to the Thrissur medical college hospital.

The police said that it is not known whether they were hit by a train or they jumped out of the train. While one body was lying on the track the other was found beside the track.

On the hands of one of the deceased girls was written, Athira R. Nair, Thirumula veedu, Konni, Pathnamthitta which helped identify the victim.

After the missing case was filed, the police investigation revealed that the girls had boarded a train from the Mavelikkara station.
