Services Hit as Bogies of Duronto Express Derail

KANNUR: Several trains were either diverted, cancelled or partially cancelled after Lokmanya Tilak-Ernakulam Duronto Express, derailed at Madgaon near Balli station, on Sunday morning. 

Passengers were stranded at the station as most of the trains were behind the schedule in the early morning.   As many as ten coaches of the train, which left Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, derailed at 6.24 hours at South of Madgon near Balli station.

No casualities have been reported. Several trains, including Mangalore Central intercity Express, Madgaon-Ernakulam Junction express, Madgaon-Mangalore Central Passenger and Ernakulam-Lokmanya Tilak Express were cancelled.

 Similarly, several trains have been diverted. Okha Ernakulam Junction Bi-weekly Express, Mumbai CSTM-Ernakulam Junction Premium Special, Nizamuddin-Thiruvananthapuram Central Weekly Express, Pune-Ernakulam Junction Poorna Express and Kochuveli-Bikaner Junction Express, had to be diverted via Londa, Hubli, Hassan and Mangalore junction.

Likewise, service of Mangalore Central-Madgaon Express was terminated at Karwar and Mangalore Central-Lokmanya Tilak Matsyagandha Express scheduled to leave Mangalore Central on May 3 has been rescheduled to depart two hours late on same day. Mangalore Central-Madgaon Passenger cancelled service between Karvar and Madgaon.

Mumbai CSTM-Mangalore Junction Express had to be cancelled between Madgaon and Mangalore junction.
