Cong Flays Centre's Move

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:The Congress in the state has come out against the Centre’s move to hand over distribution of electricity to private majors, calling it anti-people and anti-farmer.

KPCC president V M Sudheeran said here that the move to amend the Electricity Bill would deal a great blow to the common man.

Noting that the various electricity boards in the country were facing a crisis, he said that the new amendment to the Bill would only lead to a bigger crisis.

Sudheeran alleged that the move to privatise distribution could only be seen as the Central government’s appeasement of corporates.  The Centre was going ahead with the privatisation without taking into account the views of the state governments. This was also against the federal system that the country is following, KPCC president Sudheeran said.
