SABARIMALA: The hill abode of Lord Ayyappa here will be opened on May 14 for the five-day monthly poojas for the Malayalam month of Idavaom.Melsanthi Krishndas Nampoothiri will open the Sreekovil of the temple at 5.30 pm in the presence of Thantri Kandararu Rajeevaru. As an ongoing temple practice, no ritual will be held at the Sreekovil in evening.Sabarimala Devaswom executive officer V S Jayakumar said that sahasrakalasam, kalabhabhishekam and laksharchana would be the special rituals to be held during the monthly pooja days.
As part of the sahasrakalasam ritual to be conducted on the first day of the monthly pooja day on May 15, kalasa pooja would be performed under the leadership of Thantri Rajeevaru in the presence of Melsanthi Krishnadas Nampoothiri at sopanam near the Sreekovil at 7 pm on May 14.
Jayakumar said the Lord Ayyappa temple would be reopened on May 28 evening, for the idol reinstallation anniversary celebrations slated to be held on May 29.
