Sabarimala Temple to Open Tomorrow

SABARIMALA:The hill abode of Lord Ayyappa here will be opened on May 14 for the five-day monthly poojas for the Malayalam month of Idavaom. Melsanthi Krishndas Nampoothiri will open the Sreekovil of the temple at 5.30 pm in the presence of Thantri Kandararu Rajeevaru. As an ongoing temple practice, no ritual will be held at the Sreekovil in the evening.

Sabarimala Devaswom executive officer V S Jayakumar said that sahasrakalasam, kalabhabhishekam and laksharchana would be the special rituals to be held during the monthly pooja days.

As part of the sahasrakalasam ritual to be conducted on the first day of the monthly pooja day on May 15, kalasa pooja would be performed under the leadership of Thantri Rajeevaru in the presence of Melsanthi Krishnadas Nampoothiri at sopanam near the Sreekovil at 7 pm on May 14.

The ritual would be concluded with kalasabhishekam on the idol of the Lord during uchcha pooja.

In connection with kalabhabhishekam to be held on May 15, the thantri would conduct Brahmakalsa pooja at the mandapam of the temple at 10.30 am.

Kalabhabhishekam, the concluding part of the ritual, on the idol of the Lord would be conducted after the procession carrying the Brahmakalsam circumambulating the temple’s sreekovil.
