Hit by Minister's Car, Lecturer Dies

ALAPPUZHA (KERALA):A college lecturer was killed when the car of Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer hit the two-wheeler on which he was travelling late on Monday at Kayamkulam. Sasikumar, 51, was a Malayalam lecturer at NSS College Changanassery.

Sasikumar.jpg Police said the accident took place around midnight near the KSRTC bus stand. Though Sasikumar was rushed to a nearby government hospital, he was referred to the Alappuzha Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the minister’s vehicle was immediately taken away from the spot and the minister continued his journey in another car. The minister was travelling from Thiruvananthapuram to Malappuram. Tension prevailed in the area as the people gathered there turned violent.   Police have registered a case against Sameer, 30, who drove the minister’s car.
