Next Assembly Session from June 8

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After the bedlam over budget presentation in March, the Kerala Legislative Assembly will have its next session to pass the budget for the current fiscal from June 8.The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to recommend to the Governor to convene the Assembly session from June 8.

The session, intended to discuss various appropriation bills and pass the budget, would be convened from June 8 to July 2 and later from July 20 to July 30, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. The post-budget session would have detailed discussions on budget allocation for each department and the appropriation bills in the session. On March 13, the Assembly had witnessed unruly scenes over budget presentation by Finance Minister K M Mani.

Demanding the resignation of Mani over bar bribery charges, the CPM-led Opposition had created ruckus inside the House resulting in the suspension of five LDF legislators.

Later, women MLAs from the Opposition filed complaints of sexual harassment against certain ruling front MLAs also.
