ALUVA: All-India Congress Committee vice-president Rahul Gandhi will hold talks with the rubber farmers in the State at the Aluva Palace on Wednesday.

According to Congress leaders, Rahul, who is on a two-day visit to the state from Tuesday, will reach Aluva by noon from Chavakkad, after interacting with the fishermen there.

In Aluva, he will hold talks with an 18-member delegation of rubber farmers’ outfits in Central Kerala. As part of the  visit, the Congress has invited representatives of almost all rubber farmers’ bodies in Kerala. However, farmers’ bodies owing allegiance to the LDF and BJP are likely to stay away from the meeting,” said sources.

Apart from the farmers’ representatives, DCC presidents from 14 districts and leaders of the Congress are expected to attend the meeting. Officials of the Special Protection Group from New Delhi have already taken control of the Aluva Palace, in connection with Rahul’s visit.
