'Remunerate Cops Properly to End Graft'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: DGP-designate T P Senkumar has said that the corruption in the Police Department in the state would be wiped out only if the remuneration to them is properly paid. He was speaking at the three-day annual meeting of the Kerala Police Association held here on Monday evening.

“Everyone is aware of the corruption prevailing in the police stations. The corrupt officials should be sidelined and the corruption would be stopped only if the cops get adequate salary,” he said. He also made it clear that paying the bills at electricity board and operating restaurants were not the duty of Janamaithri police. Senkumar was appointed as the next state police chief following the cabinet decision last week as the present DGP K S Balasubramanian is set to retire by this month end. Senkumar is now serving as DGP (prisons).
