THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As CPM is organising a ‘human chain’ against the woes of demonitisation in the State, the BJP demanded the chief secretary to initiate strict action to stop the government employees from joining the same. In a letter to the chief secretary S M Vijayanand, BJP state secretary VV Rajesh pointed out that there has been a campaign in the government offices to make the employees participate in the human chain to be held in the on Thursday evening.

“The government officials joining the political party's campaign is violation of the norms prescribed in the Kerala Service Rules (KSR). Being the head of the government officials in the State, you are expected to intervene and entrust the various department heads to ensure that the employees are persuaded against joining such a political campaign" Rajesh said in his letter.

Migrant labourers being used

Rajesh has also asked for strict action against the erring employees who join the political campaign. BJP has been planning to act against the misuse of government machinery for the ‘human chain’.

The letter also alleges that CPM has gone to extent of using even migrant labourers to make the ‘human chain’ a success. Rajesh said they had engaged people to identify the migrant workers being roped in for the campaign. Speaking to Express, Rajesh said it was strange to form a long queue to protest against queues.

“It is unheard of to organise a 'long queue’ against queues before ATMs. They use even migrant workers to make the campaign a success. It exposes the plight of the CPM,” he said.
