She Fought All Odds with Grit, Determination

KOTTAYAM: Ambili was always a positively spirited girl who never let her illness come in the way of her studies, remembered CMS College Principal and also Ambili Fathima’s teacher Dr Roy Sam Daniel.

He told ‘Express’ that she was mentally  strong and was ready to face every problem positively.

“Ambili was one of our best students. She never showed her illness to anyone, but we on our part took extra care for her. We even shifted her classes downstairs as it was difficult for her to climb the steps,” he said. After completing her BCom, Ambili had left CMS College for another college for doing MCom. However, she came back to CMS College after taking a TC from the other college to pursue her MCom here itself. Thus was her bonding with our college, he continued.

Vimal Kurian, another teacher of Ambili at CMS College, told ‘Express’ that she was a team player and showed extraordinary mental strength.

Ambili could not submit her project work as her condition worsened and had to leave for Chennai for the multi-transplant surgery.  However, she was fully determined to complete her MCom like her friends who are now placed in various companies, he added.

For Christin Mathew, a senior student of Ambili in CMS College, she was his little sister who maintained a bonding even with his parents and brothers.

“Like her, I too believed that this time also she would overcome as earlier also when similar critical situations came, she survived with a smile. She was very optimistic and used to instill confidence in all of us that nothing bad will happen to her,” said an emotional Chris, who is now working as a Commerce guest lecturer at Bishop Speechly College for Advanced Studies here.“Ambili was very good at studies. I was doing my final year MCom when she joined first year MCom. She used to approach me with her doubts. Thus we became friends, soon she became like a member of my family.” He said, even when Ambili was not in a condition to talk, she was in touch with him through Whatsapp. Chris, who was in Alappuzha when Ambili breathed her last and could not have a last glimpse of her, said she would continue to live in their hearts.
