Man held with 1.25 kg of gold

KOCHI: THE Ernakulam unit of the Railway Police on Sunday arrested a Hyderabad-native on charges of smuggling gold in train, and seized 1.25 kg of gold from him.

Thanesh Prajapathi, 31, of Chellappura, Hyderabad, was apprehended by a police team led by CI V S Shaju while alighting at the Ernakulam Town railway station from Thiruvananthapuram-bound Sabari Express. The police also seized 1.25 kg of gold ornaments from his custody, which were being taken to a jewellery shop in the city without paying tax.
