Kodiyeri Terms Revelations in 'Edited' Audio Clips Absurd

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has termed as baseless and absurd the revelations in the audio clips that LDF had promised to reopen the closed 418 bars if it came to power.

The LDF will take a decision on its liquor policy only after coming to power, Kodiyeri told reporters here on Monday. Stating that leaked audio clips were edited, the CPM state chief alleged that an ADGP rank official was behind this development.

Kodiyeri also demanded the release of the unedited version of the audio clips. “If Biju Ramesh mentions any CPM leader, the party or its leaders need not take its responsibility,” he said.

Terming the new revelations a ploy to divert attention from the bar bribery case, Kodiyeri alleged that police official Nishanthini gave a report favouring Minister K Babu as she was intimidated by the government.  He added that the government was now trying to browbeat Vigilance SP R Sukesan.  “SP Sukesan had filed a report favouring K M Mani after he was arm twisted by the government. The Crime Branch probe was declared against him to exclude his name from the list of officials to be conferred IPS.

The attempt is to prevent Sukesan’s promotionto the IPS rank; Now, other police officials are afraid that they too will face a similar fate. Another senior official, Nishanthini, filed her report in favour of minister K Babu for the same reason,” Kodiyeri alleged.  Kodiyeri said the Left leaders were not fools to nurse a false notion that they can oust the ruling dispensation with the help of few bar hotel owners. The CPM has never tried to sabotage the government, he added. If cases can be registered against the ministers and Congress leader Thampanoor Ravi based on audio clips, then they can register cases against the CPM leaders also, Kodiyeri said and challenged the government to register case against them over the new revelation.
