Heroin Haul: Noose for Three Malayalis in Kuwait

MALAPPURAM: : A Kuwait court has issued death sentence to four people, including three Keralites, in a case related to smuggling heroin into the country. A Criminal (first) Court Bench found Manjottuchalil Faisal, 33, Malappuram,Mustafa Shahul Hameed, 41,of Mannarkadu, and AboobackerSidheeque, 21, of Kasargod, guilty of possessing and selling the contraband in the country. A case against them was registered in April 2015 followingheroin haul worth Rs 4 crore from anairport in Kuwait. The fourth culprit is a woman from Sri Lanka.

They can appeal against the verdict in a month’s time. Faisal has been named as the first convict in the case while Shahul Hameed andSiddique were made the secondand third convicts, respectively.The judge, however, has referred the case to the Appeal Court and granted one month time to review the plea. The Kuwait Customs nabbed one of the convicts from the airport, while hewas transporting the contraband.Following theinformation garnered from him, the cops apprehended the others from Al Shuyoukh, Kuwait.
