KOTTAYAM: The CPM is more likely than not to field new faces, although locally familiar, in the district, avoiding prominent leaders like sitting MLA Suresh Kurup and Vaikom Viswan, even as former MLA V N Vasavan is vying for Ettumanoor seat. Vasavan’s name was earlier considered for Kottayam seat, and was rejected by the CPM State Secretariat. However, there is a strong move within the party to pave way for Vasavan in Ettumanoor. Requests to consider his name again, but this time for Ettumanoor, are being made at the district secretariat level.
