Bid to Weaken CPM's Upper Hand: Kodiyeri

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Individual-centred discussions on candidate selection are aimed at weakening the party’s upper hand in the polls, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said.

“The victory of LDF candidates is not based on the candidates’ merit alone. The credit goes to both the party and the front. The protests against party decisions in candidate selection are to weaken the prospects of LDF,” he said in the capital on Saturday.  Kodiyeri said the party is yet to finalise the poll candidates and that discussions are on.  He urged the government to launch a probe into the conspiracy behind the recent attacks at Kattayikonam here. “The BJP is unleashing violence across the state to threaten the public. Party’s former state president V Muraleedharan was the mastermind behind in Kattayikonam violence,” he said.
