Demand for Unconditional Title Deeds

PATHANAMTHITTA:  The CPM district secretary has sought the distribution of title deeds without any conditions to the farmers who cultivate the land for decades and religious places, which hold the land. Party district secretary K P Udayabhanu said in a statement on Tuesday that the farmers who were given title deeds by the UDF Government on the fringe areas of the forests were not the original ownership documents. Instead, the so-called title deeds lacked any validity as the documents lacked the clearance of the MoEFF, he said.

The CPM district secretary said that the Revenue Minister, during the fag-end of the ministry, granted permission for the reclamation of the 420 acres of Methran Kayal, ownership documents for 450 acres at Wagamon, reclamation of 125 acres of paddy field at Kodimatha in Kottayam, ownership document for 883 acres for Karuna Estate at Nelliyampathy and 750 acres for Hope Plantation at Peermade, totaling 2,544 acres of land.
